Privacy & trust

Privacy Policy

Clear information about the details you share, the work you entrust to us, and the choices you can make.

Last updated

At Anchor Ghostwriting (“we,” “us,” or “our”), we value your privacy and the trust involved in sharing a story. This policy explains how we collect, use, share, retain, and protect information when you visit our website, make an inquiry, or work with our editorial studio.

It also explains how to contact us about your information. Project-specific terms, including manuscript ownership and confidentiality, are set out in the agreement for your engagement.

01

Information we collect

We collect the information you choose to share when you contact Anchor Ghostwriting or engage us for ghostwriting, proofreading, editing, book cover design, publishing, or book marketing services.

  • Inquiry details: your name, email address, optional phone number, selected service, and the project details you include in your message.
  • Project materials: manuscripts, book ideas, interview notes or recordings, research, images, author biographies, feedback, and related correspondence that you provide during a project.
  • Live chat information: messages and contact details you enter or send through the Tawk.to chat widget, together with visitor and conversation information handled by that service.
  • Communication records: emails and other communications needed to respond to you, manage an engagement, and document your instructions.
  • Technical information: our hosting and infrastructure providers may receive information such as your IP address, browser and device details, requested pages, access times, and referring page information when delivering and securing the website.

The inquiry form opens your email application with a message prepared from the details you entered. We receive that inquiry when you send the email. Your email provider also handles the message under its own privacy terms.

Please avoid including passwords, payment-card details, government identification numbers, or sensitive information about yourself or other people in a general inquiry. If sensitive source material is necessary for a project, agree on an appropriate sharing method with our team first.

02

How we use your information

We use personal information for the following purposes:

  • Responding to email and live chat inquiries, assessing a project, and preparing a scope or proposal.
  • Providing the writing, editing, design, publishing, or marketing services you request.
  • Communicating about interviews, drafts, reviews, deliverables, schedules, and project updates.
  • Maintaining business records, addressing disputes, and meeting applicable legal obligations.
  • Operating, maintaining, and protecting the website and our business communications.
  • Sending optional promotional communications only where the necessary permission or other lawful basis exists.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis for processing, we rely on taking steps at your request before an engagement, performing our agreement, complying with legal obligations, our legitimate interests in operating and protecting our services, or your consent where required. We do not use a general inquiry as consent to receive promotional text messages.

03

Manuscripts and confidentiality

We understand that unpublished writing, book concepts, personal stories, research, and authorship arrangements can be confidential and valuable. We use the materials you share for legitimate purposes connected with your inquiry or project, subject to our agreement with you and applicable law.

Access is limited to the team members and service providers who need the material to carry out the work. Any public use of project materials, author details, or a client relationship is subject to your authorization and the applicable project agreement.

This Privacy Policy explains information handling. Ownership, licensing, confidentiality commitments, and delivery terms for a manuscript or design are governed by your separate service agreement.

04

When information is shared

We do not sell your personal information. We may share the categories of information described above only where reasonably necessary for these purposes:

  • Our editorial and project team: relevant contact details, instructions, correspondence, and project materials needed by assigned writers, editors, designers, and publishing or marketing specialists.
  • Operational service providers: hosting, email, Tawk.to live chat, file storage, communications, and other providers that help us operate the website or deliver an engagement. Information shared depends on the service being provided.
  • Project partners you authorize: approved manuscript files, author information, design assets, or campaign materials needed for an agreed publication, distribution, or marketing activity. Those platforms may also apply their own terms and privacy policies.
  • Legal and professional purposes: relevant information for legal advisers, authorities, or other recipients when necessary to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, resolve disputes, or protect rights and safety.
  • At your direction: information you specifically ask or authorize us to share.

Providers that handle information on our behalf are expected to use it for the services they provide to us and subject to appropriate confidentiality and security requirements. The separate protection for mobile information and SMS consent is described in the SMS section.

Cookies and browser choices

Cookies are small files stored on your device. Similar technologies include temporary and local browser storage. The Tawk.to chat widget on our homepage may use these technologies to recognize visitors, maintain chat sessions, remember widget information, and understand interactions with the website. Hosting and infrastructure providers may also use technologies needed to deliver and secure their services.

You can manage cookies and stored website data through your browser settings, and use browser privacy controls or content-blocking tools to limit third-party resources. Blocking chat resources may prevent the widget from loading or retaining a conversation. You can contact us by email instead of using live chat. Other website features may also be affected by restrictive browser settings.

The exact chat cookies and storage items can depend on the widget configuration and your interaction with it. See Tawk.to’s explanation of its cookies and storage. If we introduce additional analytics, advertising, or tracking technologies, we will update this policy and provide any notices or choices required by applicable law.

External services and links

Live chat

Our homepage includes a Tawk.to live chat widget. Tawk.to processes chat content and contact details you provide, along with technical and visitor information such as IP address, browser details, page visits, and conversation or connection identifiers. Loading the widget can provide technical visitor information to Tawk.to even if you do not start a conversation. We use the service to respond to inquiries and manage related communications.

Read Tawk.to’s Privacy Policy for its information practices and processing arrangements. For requests about a chat you had with our team, contact us using the details below.

Fonts and website libraries

Website pages load fonts from Google Fonts and interface or animation libraries through the jsDelivr content delivery network. When your browser requests those resources, the providers receive connection information, such as an IP address, browser details, and request information. Their handling of that information is also subject to their own policies.

You can review Google’s Privacy Policy and jsDelivr’s Privacy Policy.

Links to other websites

Links to Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, publishing platforms, or other third-party websites take you to services operated by others. Their privacy policies apply when you visit or use them. Our social links are links to those websites, rather than embedded social tracking widgets.

07

How long information is kept

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected. The period depends on the nature of an inquiry or engagement, project instructions, business record requirements, dispute resolution needs, and applicable law.

When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete it, de-identify it, or otherwise dispose of it securely. Some records may need to be retained to meet legal obligations or resolve an existing matter.

08

How information is protected

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information and project materials against unauthorized access, misuse, loss, alteration, or disclosure. Access should be appropriate to the work being performed.

No website, email system, transmission method, or storage system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security. Please contact us if you believe information associated with an inquiry or project has been compromised.

09

Your choices and privacy rights

Depending on your location and the law that applies, you may have rights to:

  • Confirm whether we process your personal information and request access to it.
  • Correct inaccurate information or request deletion of information.
  • Receive a portable copy of information where required by law.
  • Withdraw consent where processing relies on consent, or object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Opt out of a sale of personal information, targeted advertising, or certain profiling where those rights apply.
  • Exercise applicable privacy rights without unlawful discrimination.

Email hello@anchorghostwriting.com with the subject “Privacy Request.” Describe what you would like us to do and provide enough information for us to locate the relevant records. You do not need to create an account. We may request limited additional information to verify your identity or authority to act for someone else.

We respond within the periods required by applicable law. Some requests may be limited by legal obligations, the rights of others, or information needed to complete an engagement. If we decline a request, you may ask us to review the decision by emailing the same address with the subject “Privacy Appeal.” Where applicable, you may also complain to the relevant privacy regulator or attorney general.

You can ask us to stop optional promotional emails using the unsubscribe instructions in the message or by contacting us. Necessary project or administrative messages may continue. SMS choices are explained below.

10

International communications

We serve authors worldwide. Your communications and project materials may be processed in the countries where our team members and service providers operate, and privacy laws may differ between those countries and your own.

Where applicable law requires protections for international transfers, the relevant information must be handled using the safeguards required by that law.

11

Children’s privacy

This website offers professional editorial and publishing services and is not directed to children under 13. Publishing services for children’s books are intended for the authors or representatives commissioning those services.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without appropriate authorization where required by law. If you believe a child has provided information inappropriately, email us so we can review the matter and take appropriate action.

12

SMS terms and conditions

SMS communications apply only if Anchor Ghostwriting offers a messaging program and you separately provide the consent required for that program. Entering an optional phone number in the website inquiry form does not, by itself, enroll you in promotional text messages.

Messages and consent

Depending on the consent you provide, messages may relate to service inquiries, project updates, account notifications, or promotional offers. Consent to promotional text messages is not a condition of purchasing our services.

Frequency and charges

Message frequency varies with your interactions and the program you join. Message and data rates may apply according to your mobile carrier and service plan.

Opting out

Reply STOP to an applicable message to opt out. A confirmation of your opt-out may be sent. You can also contact us to request that applicable messaging stop.

Help and support

Reply HELP where supported, or email hello@anchorghostwriting.com for assistance.

Mobile information and SMS privacy

We do not sell your mobile phone number or share mobile information, text-message opt-in data, or consent with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. Messaging service providers may process information on our behalf only as necessary to deliver and manage the messaging services, subject to appropriate safeguards.

13

Updates and contact

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our services, website, information practices, or legal requirements. Revisions will appear on this page with an updated date. We will provide additional notice or obtain consent if required by applicable law.
